Vascor, Who is this for, Drug Digest:"Bepridil is used to control chest pain (angina) by increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. If taken regularly, bepridil controls chest pain, but it does not stop chest pain once it starts. Your doctor may give you a different medication to take when you have chest pain. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information."

Bepridil, What is bepridil, Drugs.com:"Bepridil is in a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Bepridil relaxes (widens) your blood vessels (veins and arteries), which makes it easier for your heart to pump and reduces its workload.

Bepridil is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and to treat angina (chest pain)."

Bepridil, What are the common side effects of this medication, Medformation.com:"Feeling sleepy, tired, or lightheaded. Avoid driving, doing other tasks or activities that require you to be alert until you see how this medicine affects you. Dizziness is common. Rise slowly over several minutes from sitting or lying position. Be careful climbing stairs. Headache. Mild pain medicine may help. Constipation. More liquids, regular exercise, or a fiber-containing diet may help. Talk with healthcare provider about a stool softener or laxative. Nausea. Small frequent meals, frequent mouth care, sucking hard candy, or chewing gum may help. Diarrhea."

Bepridil, How should this medication be used, MEDLINEplus:"Bepridil comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take bepridil exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Bepridil controls chest pain (angina) but does not cure it. Continue to take bepridil even if you feel well. Do not stop taking bepridil without talking to your doctor."

Bepridil, Indications, RXlist:"VASCOR (bepridil hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of chronic stable angina (classic effort-associated angina). Because VASCOR has caused serious ventricular arrhythmias, including torsades de pointes type ventricular tachycardia, and the occurrence of cases of agranulocytosis associated with its use (see WARNINGS), it should be reserved for patients who have failed to respond optimally to, or are intolerant of, other anti-anginal medication. VASCOR may be used alone or in combination with beta blockers and/or nitrates. Controlled clinical studies have shown an added effect when VASCOR is administered to patients already receiving propranolol."

Bepridil, Reasons to call healthcare provider immediately, USAdrug.com:"Signs of a life-threatening reaction. Passing out, fainting, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Chest pains, fast heartbeats, shortness of breath, or decreased ability to walk. Any rash."
